The Bosch Group registered sales of 1.2 billion euros (91 billion rubles) in Russia in fiscal year 2018. “In a continuously challenging economic environment, Bosch held its market position in Russia in 2018. The strategy of local manufacturing and product development in the country yielded excellent results”, said Hansjürgen Overstolz, President of the Bosch Group in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Central Asia, Caucasus and Mongolia. “This year we will continue our strategy of strengthening local activities across the Russian Federation. For Bosch, Russia remains a market with significant potential. Local manufacturing and collaboration with local partners remain part of Bosch’s global strategy. In 2019, we plan to further expand our partner network and collaborate with local research and educational organizations on digitalization and the Internet of Things”, said Overstolz.
Bosch employs 3700 associates in Russia and invested some 21 million euros in the development and modernization of its manufacturing facilities in 2018. For the first time, Bosch made it into the top ten of the Best Employers ranking in Russia, a list of the 100 top employers in the country that is published annually by the leading Russian recruitment platform HeadHunter.
Consumer Goods business sector
New connected lines and models of home appliances, including smart refrigerators and washing machines that feature the company’s Home Connect technology are part of the portfolio of the BSH Hausgeräte division in the country. In 2018, BSH Russia launched two important new retail channels: the online store www.bosch-home.ru and the Bosch flagship store in Moscow.
In the Power Tools division, the large angle grinders manufacturing line LAG was launched at the plant in Engels in 2018. The product portfolio of professional battery tools of 12 V and 18 V was expanded, and the Bosсh Accessories unit showed a steady increase in sales in 2018. 12V and 18V battery systems for home and garden have become the key growth area for the Home and Garden business in Russia.
Integrated solutions and comprehensive approach
The Energy and Building Technology business sector development plan was marked by major infrastructure projects in 2018. Solutions of the Building Technologies division were implemented in more than 10 airports, including Terminal B of Sheremetyevo Airport (Moscow), Kazan International Airport, Yemelyanovo Airport (Krasnoyarsk) and Vityazevo Airport (Anapa). The turnover of Bosch Building Technologies in the service area increased more than twofold, providing support to partners and end customers at all project stages. For example, an integrated solution based on the Building Integration System (BIS) platform was implemented at the VTB Arena Park sports complex in Moscow. The facility was equipped with some 2,300 CCTV cameras, more than 2,400 proximity card readers, as well as over 9,500 Bosch security detectors. MAP-5000 panels are used as central controllers of the alarm system.
The Thermotechnology division brought dozens of new equipment installations under the Bosch and Buderus brands to the Russian market in 2018. Among them, two product groups stand out: condensing heating boilers and control system components.
Stable overall development of Mobility Solutions sector
The number of new cars with Bosch active safety systems increases in Russia from year to year, which has a positive effect on road safety. This proves the status of Bosch as the world's leading developer and manufacturer of ABS systems. The network of the Bosch Car Service was also recognized by a World Automotive Components international Award in 2018, in nomination of “The Best Network Concept for Service Stations”. The network remains the largest in Russia.
